It bears a 1,149-foot observation tower and a strategic location accessible to malls and the lively streets of sin city. Add to that the fact that it is an all-around place that boasts of the best accommodation, amenities, and services when it comes to amusement and entertainment. I’d had enough of hanging about on top of skyscrapers. ![]() I really didn’t feel like either of these two would make my life any better, so I chose to avoid riding them and get to seeing Las Vegas. Repeat until you barf and you pretty much have it. You sit in it and the strip tilts so you look like you’re about to faceplant into the ground, then tips you back again so you fall backwards. The other one, the absolutely horrendous looking X Scream is like a car on a small strip. I watched a repetition and the there was not one scream of joy, just sheer terror. But my street and the other 4 here predated almost everything around here, including both Odom and Crockett.On Insanity you get strapped into a ‘claw’ which then moves out over the edge of the 1000ft skyscraper and then slowly opens up and spins you around with no ground beneath. That's when the traffic picked up once people realized they could cut through to Woodhue and onto William Cannon. The property where The Oaks is was cow pasture then! Once the upper part of the neighborhood was built up along Woodhue, my street was put through to there creating a perfect thoroughfare. So my neighborhood just made a little loop into the woods and consisted of only 5 streets. It was just my street, plus the two streets to the east of mine, and the two connecting streets. At that time, the rest of the neighborhood hadn't been built yet, including where you are. At that time Stassney was just a two lane street. lol Seriously, our street has always been the main entrance to this neighborhood from Stassney. I know you live in my neighborhood, and figured since you do, you probably drive down my street every day since everyone else does too. The Frost Bank Tower and 360 Condos also show up here. There's a view of The Austonian from the parking lot at the back of the park. The last little bit in a few places in our yard didn't completely melt until Thursday afternoon though.īonus pic. The temp warmed up to 51F, so it was pretty much all gone. The park covers 40 acres of heavily wooded area (Oak and Elm trees).īy the next day, most of the snow was gone except in just a few shady spots. Two grave sites are in the park, one of them is noted as being a relative of Abraham Lincoln. Garrison Park was private land that was given to the City by a family. Now onto Garrison Park just up the hill from Crockett. Right behind me there was a guy, who I guess was in gym class, jump roping outside in the snow. ![]() And as I rode down my street with fat snowflakes smacking me in the face, I opened a my mouth and ate a few.Įarlier in the morning there had been sleet, but starting around 11:30 am, it changed over to all snow. Riding my bike in the snow, now that was a first. I decided to hop on my bike and head down to my old high school, Crockett High, and also up the hill to Garrison Park. Still, it was the biggest snowfall we'd seen in at least 6 years. It snowed most of the morning and afternoon in North Austin, while it only snowed about 2 hours in South Austin. North Austin got around 2 inches, while here in South Austin we only got about a quarter inch. Austin actually saw some snow on Tuesday. ![]()
